The holidays

The April holidays were excellent but it was so jam packed with stuff to do that just after the 2 day Nuwaraeliya break, we’ve had something to do or somewhere to go to every single day. Including a sudden funeral in Kandy where C and I left home at 7.30pm and got back home at 2.30am. Work was supposed to start for me yesterday but the heavens probably heard my woes and I woke up with a migraine last morning, which gave me an extra day at home albeit in bed and asleep for the most of it.

The weather on the other hand is excellent! though it doesn’t help me with the workout routines unless I fancy being drenched enroute the walk. I love how predictably gloomy it becomes around 3.30pm and then either pours all guns a blazing with lightening and thunder or settles at a steady all night long drizzle. I heard about the elephant at the Kotte Rajamahaviharaya and it’s such a pity that more responsible measures weren’t taken. Chaining animals and leaving them exposed in this kind of weather automatically puts them in a high risk zone. I hope this gives all concerned something to think about and action without debate, afterall, we keep them in captivity and their well being is our responsibility.

C and I celebrated our first Avurudhu together at home and it’s nice to have both Christmas and the Sinhalese New Year to plan and celebrate in full gusto. My parents do celebrate the Sinhalese NY keeping to tradition as it is after all the Sinhalese and Tamil New Year and not a religously segregated festival. C’s parents spent the night at our place and my folks came over the next afternoon for lunch. C couldn’t get me the Easter egg that was promised but more than made up for it with my Avurudhu present which consisted of not 1 but 3 pairs of rather nice footwear. He’s totally forgiven 😉

Hope the New Year brings lots of good things your way and Happy-getting-back-to-work this/next week 🙂

April in a nutshell

  • A 10 day holiday for the New Year Starting tomorrow
  • 8th Apr – Easter dinner with the extended family. C has promised me an easter egg! 😀
  • 9th/10th Apr – Hub and I head to Nuwaraeliya. The last time we went was on honeymoon, so way overdue visit. Kinda last minute, but those are the ones that are the most fun!
  • 13th/14th Apr – Our first Avurudhu at home
  • 28th/29th Apr – Kandalama

So yes, April is looking good! I’ve also managed to lose 2kg, which is a start, albeit a bit slow.

Happy Holidays all!!
